EPMS was set up in 1998 in response to the need for a description of event management. The initial result was the creation of the Event Management Body of Knowledge. At that stage events were regarded as the lighter side of business. However it was apparent that events produced significant economic and social impacts as well as brand exposure...and they were increasing in number and variety.

To begin EPMS used project management as the basis of the event management methodology. It was also apparent that risk management played a significant role. Over years EPMS has evolved into a consultancy working around the world, advising organisations, both international and local, on their complete events portfolio management including all the topics found on this website.
